Specialist drinks store opens at 116-117 High Street, Oxford

Amathus, the London-based specialist drinks importer, distributor and retailer, has opened its new premises in the former Oxford University Press bookshop at 116-117, High Street, Oxford. The bookshop closed in March 2020 and was vacant for many years until CTPL secured planning permission and listed building consent in 2023 to retain the retail unit on the ground floor and use the basement and the rear part of the ground floor as an extension of the Lincoln College library, which occupies the Grade I, All Saints’ Church on the opposite side of the High Street. After CTPL discharged a host of conditions, the store was created and opened recently. It sits alongside the new “Knead” Bakery at 115, High Street, which opened on 24th June 2025.
